About this job

Our client is seeking mechanics to assist with the repair of floats per manufacturer standards in the Broussard, LA area.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Must be proficient with use of tape measure and be able to lift at least 75-100 lbs.
  2. Ability to read drawings and understand written instructions including manuals, standard practice and work instructions.
  3. Rigs a unit (attaches various parts to unit, such as aspirator (intake valves), cylinder, lines/cords, anchor, locator lights and battery, etc.
  4. Ties various knots in specific manner.
  5. Soapstone (dusts) specific areas of unit so that no sticking occurs.
  6. Deflates unit to prepare it for folding.
  7. Follow standard procedure for folding the unit utilizing a diagram and written instructions.
  8. During folding process must be able to push, pull, tug (using hands and feet), bend, kneel, stoop, etc. to get unit in its case.
  9. Case is then laced up.

Qualifications:

A combination of education, training, work and/or other life experience in which would provide a reasonable assurance that the required knowledge and skills have been acquired by the applicant. Example: A two-year degree in technical discipline and/or comparable work experience such as an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification and/or Military or Civil aircraft maintenance experience.

Additional Information:

  • Has the ability to use common hand tools and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, depth gauges, flow meters, pressure gauges.
  • Is able to read and interpret component maintenance manuals in order to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
  • Has a good understanding of corrosion control methods and remedies.
