About this job

Description: Under the supervision of a site physician, performs various professional and administrative duties related to cardiac and nuclear medicine stress testing including but not limited to: patient preparation, administration of exercise and pharmacological stress tests, and application of ACLS measures to patients when needed. Specifically, be responsible for preparation of patient for imaging and stress testing procedures including patient interviews, patient consent and signatures, and conducting patient teaching related to nuclear imaging procedure.

Essential Responsibilities:

Performs EKG's per department or provider request.

Prepares patient and assists physician and/or Nursing personnel while performing treadmill and chemical stress testing including tests performed in the Nuclear medicine Department.

Prepares patients for Holter Monitor and other procedures as assigned.

Responds immediately to all Code calls for technician support.

Prepares EKG's and procedure reports for physician interpretation. Files and distributes interpreted reports and EKG's appropriately.

Performs clerical duties as assigned.

Maintains the communication center of the Cardiology Department including handling telephone calls, receiving visitors, patients, physicians, and others coming to the Cardiology Department.

Schedules procedures done in the Cardiology Department.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

N/A Education

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required with basic science background. License, Certification, Registration

Recent graduate of CAAHEP/CAHEA or ABHES Medical Assistant Programs.

Certification, Registration, or Licensure: BLS certification at Healthcare Provider level.

Must acquire American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) or American Medical Technologist (RMA) Certification required.

Additional Requirements:

Familiar with medical terminology.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

Completion of EKG and basic arrhythmia courses.

Certification in cardiovascular or Cardiac Stress Lab.

ACLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) years of experience working invasive or non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing.

Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a cardiology medical environment or related field preferred.
