Job Description

Job Title: FLOOR SUPERVISOR

 

Job Description Summary:

The basic function of the Floor Supervisor is to guide and instruct fabrication department for building and installing equipment or products.

 

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to Project Manager. Laborers, Welders, Welder/Fitters, Field Supervisor (when working in shop) report to this function.

 

Essential Functions:

* Basic Math skills: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, decimals

* Ability and knowledge to read blueprints

* Ability and knowledge to perform material layouts

* Ability and knowledge to operate shop equipment: Band Saw, Acetylene torch, Plasma

cutter, Plate shear, Break press, Punch press, Drill press

* Skill in welding and related equipment operation; Mig, Tig & Stick welding Carbon &

Stainless Steel & Aluminum, fillet & groove welds in all positions

* Knowledge and understanding of weldable materials and consumables

* Ability to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions and follow safety

guidelines

* Ability to perform AWS D1.1 certification

* Aide and review with project designs and create cut-lists, when necessary.

* Provide fabrication instructions to employees

* Monitor all fabrication activities.

* Check on-hand inventory

* Advise and train employees, when necessary

* Test and evaluate potential new hires

* Design and fabricate fixtures and set-up as needed

* Meet with various inspectors

* Maintain equipment

* Oversee shop personnel for performance and disciplinary

* Perform performance appraisals

* Check fitters before welding

* Verify and check shipments

* Review time cards daily and initial

* Sign and receive vendor shipments

* Verify vendor product shipment against company purchase order

* Count material inventory

* Requisition shop tools and supplies

* Track Time and Material projects on existing forms

* Notify Project Manager of issues impacting profitability and quality of projects

* Maintain daily shop safety standards

* Maintain and enforce company rules.

* Quality Control

* Delegate above items, as needed

* Other duties may be required.

 

Accountability:

The Floor Supervisor is accountable for building and installing of all equipment and products. The authority to implement the duties and responsibilities flows from the Project Manager.
