About this job

Candidates will be responsible for welding on pressure vessels. There are two types of employees that Ward Tank has: Pipefitters and Welders.

Fitters are the strongest welders at the facility. A fitter is a good all-around welder. They can read blueprints in detail for small or large components. They will have experience across Mig, Tig and Stick. Fitters need to know ASME code, weld symbols, blueprints and have leadership skills. They prefer a fitter to be 6G Certified, but it's not a disqualifier if they aren't. A fitter will be in charge of a team of 3-4 welders on multiple projects. These candidates will make $18-$22/hr.

For welders, Ward Tank is open to seeing candidates from multiple backgrounds. They key for these candidates is that they must all have good mindsets. They must be the type of candidates that will show up to work everyday and on-time. They are willing to look at candidates who have some type of welding diploma or training from a college or trade school and some welding experience at a manufacturing facility. They won't look at someone who has just done welding in the garage or with family, etc. Ideally any solid welder we have who has good job tenure and good soft skills in an interview could potentially do this role. We should look for candidates who would like to work their way up in a company, as this role is what will be trained to be a fitter. One thing to mention is that some of the welding tasks can become tedious and monotonous and at times welders will have to climb into crawl spaces to do welding on vessels. These candidates will make $15-$17/hr.
