To pursue our expansion and increase our production capacity, Seppic Inc. and Schülke Inc., two entities of Air Liquide Healthcare, created Polykon Manufacturing LLC. Seppic designs and supplies specialty ingredients, such as emulsifiers and surfactants, polymers, emulsions and active ingredients for the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, veterinary and industrial markets. Present in over 100 countries, Seppic employs 700 people around the world, including 100 employees in innovation. Schülke designs and supplies disinfectants and antiseptics mainly for medical environment to actively contribute to patient safety. Present in 80 countries, Schülke employs over 900 people around the world, including 70 researchers. Polykon plant, based in Richmond (Virginia), will start manufacturing specialty ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products in 2018.

Polykon Manufacturing LLC includes 4 chemicals manufacturing units and 4 filling lines with all support services required (Maintenance, quality control, logistics). The plant is located near Richmond (VA), and start-up is expected in 2018.

The Shift Supervisor is accountable for the following objectives:

  • The execution of manufacturing operations in accordance with the manufacturing schedule and with respect to the budget.
  • He or she will manage a shift team that works collaborative on set goals.
  • Achieve an established level of productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Work to achieve appropriate results in terms of Safety and environment (no accidents or unintended pollution).

The Shift Supervisor has a key role in manufacturing safety and serves as a major actor in the case of crisis and in risk prevention for maintenance in operations (working permits). During the plant start up, the shift supervisor will have the following role:

  • Execution of test procedures required before start-up.

  • Execution of plant start up with the project team.

  • Reports to the Manufacturing Superintendent

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Manages a team of up approximately 4 operators.

  • Ensures the training of new operators.

  • Ensures there are no deviations in application of SOPs.

  • Communicates SOP deviations if any.

  • Reports various range of accidents, incidents and near misses.

  • Requests maintenance services as needed for equipment.

  • Validates working permits for maintenance requests.

  • Ensures alternate positions of manufacturing units are activated and manages the first responder team in the case of any environmental or safety emergency situations.

  • Ensures coordination with logistics team (raw material and finish product supply).

  • Manages monthly meetings with the operator team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in manufacturing technology (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in a process industry.

  • Fluent English
