About this job

The Quality Inspector inspects parts and processes for conformance to specifications. Records variations from company standards and customer specifications by performing the following duties:

- Verifies dimensions, using measuring instruments, such as micrometer, calipers and custom made gaging.
- Conducts process audits on production floor recording results on audit forms.
- Collects, inspects, highlights defects on parts, assigns defect code, completes scrap reports and disposes of scrap parts.
- Performs "first piece" or set up approval inspections, completes set up approval check sheets
- Performs dimensional and visual inspection audits and records inspection results for all finished product prior to shipment.
- Identifies defective material and/or non defective material.
- Performs other inspection and quality department related tasks as needed.
- Maintains work area to acceptable housekeeping standards.
- Checks gauges for correct calibration.
- Performs quality checks when specified on the quality check sheet.
- Inspects machined work pieces for surface defects and verifies conformance to specifications listed in the job book.
- Pack pieces into appropriate dunnage from job book packing instructions.
- Record hourly production, scrap and downtime on the downtime sheet.
- At the end of the shift turn in quality check sheet and downtime sheet to your supervisor.
- Assure all parts in the work area are properly identified.
- Inspects machine and meets all safety requirements.

Qualifications: MUST HAVE:

- 3+ months of quality inspection experience

- Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and/or other measuring instruments and gauges

- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

- Steel-toe boots (other PPE will be provided)

- Basic computer knowledge. (Word, Excel, Outlook)

PREFERRED:

- Manufacturing/production experience

- Machine operation experience

- High School Diploma or GED
