The Assistant Kitchen Manager supports the Kitchen Manage in supervising and coordinating activities concerning all back-of-the-house operations and personnel, including food preparation, kitchen and storeroom areas. They hire, discharge, train, and evaluate back-of-house personnel. They purchase or requisition food items, supplies and equipment, plan or participate in menu planning and food production and apportions meat, vegetables and desserts, as well as food surpluses, to control costs. Supervises food preparation personnel to ensure food adheres to standards of quality to maintain cleanliness or kitchen and equipment.
• Assist the Kitchen Manager (KM) in day to day operations of the BOH
• Perform line and prep functions alongside hourly employees
• Perform food & smallwares orders as needed
• Help maintain a fully staffed BOH department
• Communicate effectively with staff, guests, and other members of management
• Oversee all foodservice operations in KM’s absence
• Maintain a clean & sanitary BOH environment
• Help maintain budgeted labor & food costs
• Prepare reports as needed
• Ensure the safety of employees & guests at all times
• Uphold all company values and standards at all times
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or requested
• Ability to impact P&Ls
• Good organization skills
• Ability to motivate, train and supervise employees
• Strong interpersonal skills

* 3-5 years of restaurant experience
* Minimum of 2 to 3 years managing the day-to-day operations of a high volume restaurant
* Minimum 3 years working in a BOH role
* Ability to impact P&Ls
* Good organization skills
* Ability to motivate, train and supervise employees
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Able to work at least ten hour shifts with extensive standing/walking. May lift materials and/or product up 50lbs or more.
