About this job

The Projectionist is responsible for and accountable for maintaining excellent presentation quality and the overall audio
visual experience for each of our guests. In addition, this person may coordinate work with outside vendors.


DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Specifically, the Projectionists job responsibilities and duties include, without limitation,
the following:
● Ensures that ALL GUESTS have an AWESOME EXPERIENCE, and are EXCITED to come back.
● Scheduling
● Builds SPLs according to plans set out by Creative Manager, coordinates content delivery with distributors and Alamo Video department, ensures that all first-run content is built correctly and meets our brand standards for presentation
● Coordinates with Creative Manager to track all special events which require coverage by a dedicated projectionist and schedules accordingly
● Checks Ticket Monitor to be sure that all shows are placed in an auditorium which meets the show’s technical needs
● Works with local Sales Manager(s) to execute PCE bookings , monitors PCE calendars, coordinates with Sales Manager and PCE clients to determine A/V needs for each event
● Print Shipping and Tracking
● Updates print tracking document, details all incoming, outgoing and content on hand
● Maintains database of studio shipping contacts
● Contacts content sources to determine expected delivery of all media
● Follows up with sources to ensure delivery of all content no less than 4 days prior
● Returns prints, hard drives and other media to their correct return or forwarding addresses
● Content Ingestion and Server Maintenance
● Manages all local content
● Downloads in-house content via Alamo FTP
● Downloads KDMs to library server
● Deletes old content from library server and projector media blocks
● Playlist Creation and Allocation
● Creates content packs according to the assignments given by the Creative Manager
● Creates Show Playlists (SPLs) with appropriate packs and cues
● Allocates SPLs to schedule and ensures that all scheduled shows are correct and ready to run.
● Parts, Supplies and Equipment Ordering
● Maintains an inventory of all booth equipment
● Coordinates with General Manager to order supplies as needed
● Submits receipts for purchases to management
● Booth Upkeep
● Cleans and organizes to maintain a spartan workspace
● Maintains cleanliness of all projection ports
● Maintains cleanliness of all projectors, sound racks, and all other A/V equipment
● Projector Maintenance and Repair
● Performs routine projector cleaning and maintenances according to a set schedule
● Carries out any needed repairs which can be handled in-house
● Schedules repair calls with local service tech
● Print Inspection
● Inspects all prints and prepares them for presentation Fills out print inspection reports
● Has enough experience and knowledge of the proper handling and inspection of film prints to determine
how to do the least amount of harm to each print during exhibition

● PCE Projection and Coordination
● Communicates with PCE Sales Managers and clients to determine technical needs for upcoming events
● Ensures that all needed equipment is available
● Assumes responsibility for integration of client’s equipment with house audio/video
● Performs the tech run of client’s media at least 48 hours prior to event
● Presents media according to client’s specifications and show flow
● Projection - Signature Programming
● Coordinates with Creative Manager to determine show flow and necessary additional content
● Coordinates with Alamo Video department to receive any necessary additional content
● Assumes responsibility for setup and operation of any special equipment (microphones, lights,
pyrotechnics, game systems, etc.)

● Projection - 35mm
● Ensures that all projectors are well-maintained and properly aligned prior to every show
● Ensures that all film content is in a condition that will allow the film to be exhibited without causing damage to the film or film equipment
● Prior to the show, has determined the proper aspect ratio, lensing, sound format and sound level for the film
● Assumes responsibility for operation of projectors during the show
● Projection - Film Festivals
● Works with festival coordinators to integrate any external equipment necessary for the festival
● Assumes responsibility for operation of festival equipment according to the need of festival organizers
● Communicates with festival managers regarding content receipt and return
● Operates microphones, mixers and lights for intros and Q&As

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Maintains comprehensive knowledge of 35mm projection systems Has a comprehensive knowledge of and experience with the handling and exhibition of archival films
● Has experience working with digital projection systems
● Has some basic knowledge of computer hardware and networking
● Is highly detail oriented
● Is well organized
● Has the ability and initiative to work efficiently without direct supervision
● Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
● Willingness to work unusual work hours (lots of evenings and weekends)
● Has experience communicating in a professional environment
● Has experience working with email and office applications in a work environment

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is typically performed in the venue. The noise level in the work environment is usually
moderate. The work involves a majority of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing and some lifting up to 50 lbs.

HAZARDS: Only those present in a normal theater venue setting; no known significant hazards.
