Industrial Sewer/Upholsterer

Job Summary:

Knows and applies the fundamentals concepts for the basic sewing functions for producing upholstery. Performs sewing functions involving routine and repetitive tasks. Produces sewn pieces used in the construction of upholstery for chairs and stools. Maintains a high level of quality and accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Draws cutting lines on material following patterns, templates, sketches, or blueprints, using chalk, pencils, paint, or other methods.
  • Measures and cuts new covering materials, using patterns and measuring and cutting instruments, following sketches and design specifications.
  • Operates a single and double needle sewing machine to stitch fabric used in upholstering chairs and stools.
  • Assists Upholsterers with general labor as needed in the production of upholstery sets.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.
  • Knows the fundamental concepts and practices for industrial sewing and the use of an industrial sewing machine. Proven competency in the use of an industrial sewing machine, cutting tools and other equipment used in the cutting and sewing of upholstery patterns with supervision.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.
  • Minimum one year experience or demonstrated skill level.
Day Shift

Pay: $13/hr to $14/hr Depending on Skills and Experience
