Job Overview:

Supervises the maintenance and repair of all equipment and building systems associated with the  Automated Warehouse Facility.  Will be required to participate in the actual inspection, repair and maintenance of the automated warehouse systems.  Work involves supervising maintenance staff, scheduling and assigning work, requisitioning materials and supplies, estimating work hours and material required for projects, and coordinating activities.  Works under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.  Critical contacts are the maintenance associates, operations associates and leadership as well as various other department managers & supervisors. Must have strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with the critical contacts listed above within the organization as well as outside resources. Train and develop direct reports with key technical competencies.

 

Essential Functions:

• Supervises, assigns, and inspects the work of the maintenance staff.

• May be required to participate “hands-on” in some of the maintenance and repair of the equipment.

• Prepares estimates of work hours, materials, and resources required for projects; approves and initiates requisitions for materials and supplies; and prepares reports and maintains records of repairs.

• Develops and implements preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and facilities.

• Prepares reports and analysis setting forth progress of preventive maintenance, work order programs.  Identifies any adverse trends and takes appropriate action to correct or makes recommendations and/or conclusions.

• Responsible for maintaining the most cost-effective spare parts inventory levels, and ensuring minimal downtime by securing an accurately and sufficiently stocked parts area(s).

• Responsible for compliance to all regulatory requirements as it relates to equipment and facility maintenance including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and the NFRP programs.

• Responsible for budget compliance with respect to maintenance labor and expenses.  Provides recommendations to continually improve budget expenses.  Assists manager in developing annual budgets.

• Trains and instructs personnel.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Associates degree in a technical field as well as graduation from an accredited senior high school or GED equivalent.  An equivalent combination of education and experience can apply towards meeting this requirement.

• Five years experience in operation and maintenance of a warehouse distribution center or equivalent combination of experience.

• Two years experience in the supervision of employees.

• Knowledge of principles involving mechanical and electrical design, maintenance and repair fundamentals of automated industrial production equipment.  Automated warehouse systems knowledge preferred.

• Knowledge of departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.

• Skill to train and supervise others, and communicate ideas & instructions clearly and concisely.

• Must possess proficient knowledge and continuous adherence of OSHA, State and • Local safety standards and the MLO Safety program standards.

• Ability to identify and correct hazards and address unsafe behaviors to drive safety performance and adherence to the MLO Safety Programs, OSHA, State and Federal regulations while elevating issues and concerns in a professional manner with appropriate cadence.

• Perform any other function management deems essential.

• Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.

 

Communication Skills:

• Must be able to follow instructions and respond in English

• Must communicate with Shuttle office staff, Fleet Maintenance Adm., Receiving dock staff, Big ticket management and carriers and drivers

 

Mathematical Skills:

• Adds, subtracts, and multiplies in all units of measure, using whole numbers, decimals and fractions.

 

Reasoning Ability:

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Physical Demands:

• Lifts and moves items weighing up to 25 pounds.

 

Work Hours:

• Flexibility in work schedule.
