As a Team Leader in this area, you’ll assist in running the department and will work with team members to develop their skills and passions, expanding and sharing your knowledge of a wide variety of unique cheese products from around the world.

Product (What We Do)

  • Maintain department appearance, product levels, and efficiency; use knowledge of product, trends, and seasonality to accurately forecast needs and adjust order
  • Follow company standards of merchandising, showcase quality, freshness and unique products offered; cross merchandise highlight featured, premiere, and seasonal items to drive sales
  • Ensure proper handling, cutting, and trimming of cheese to reduce shrink; educate on how to recognize when product should be trimmed and rewrapped

Results (What We Measure)

  • Perform essential tasks for efficient Cheese operations; orders, schedules, and manage payroll; relay pertinent information to Store Management; ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure proper use of equipment; ensure food & human safety, simplification, company policies and procedures are followed

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements including forceful pulling, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various environments, including cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 10-30 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work includes the safe and proper handling of knives and cheese cutting equipment
  • Work may include use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
  • Managerial/ supervisory experience including delegating tasks to others

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of and passion for cheese, beverages and pairings
  • Working knowledge of cheese; including familiarity with cheese families, cutting, handling, and wrapping
