Assembly/Test/Repair Technician Summary

This position is accountable for producing and testing high quality products that meet the technical specifications, as well as direct labor and lead-time requirements for a given job. This position is also accountable for repairing failed instruments returned from customers. Reporting

This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Accountabilities
  1. Accountable for reporting material discrepancies to the supervisor or other appropriate personnel in a timely manner for an assigned job.
  2. Accountable for assembling, testing, and packaging products according to documented procedures.
  3. Accountable for completing a given job in a timely manner.
  4. Accountable for assembling, testing, final packaging, and QC’ing products according to documented procedures.
  5. Accountable for completing instrument repairs for select products within the documented lead time and properly documenting them in the RMA Database.
  6. Accountable for troubleshooting instruments to board level and sometimes troubleshooting PCB’s to component level.
  7. Accountable for a safe, clean and well organized working environment in the assembly and repair areas.
Activities
  1. Audits shop order kits for material discrepancies and reports them to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel for a given job.
  2. Performs various assembly, soldering and packaging tasks for a given job, including mechanical, electrical, and optical assemblies.
  3. Supports prototyping for R & D and may train on the assembly and testing of new products. May train others as required.
  4. Performs instrument repairs to PCB level, and sometimes component level, according to the documented lead time. Also required to requisition material and fill out portions of the RMA database.
  5. Performs assembly, testing, packaging, and QC’ing of products according documented procedures.
  6. Might be required to troubleshoot PCB’s to component level and rework PCB’s as required.
  7. Employee will strive to complete a given job in a timely manner while complying to documented procedures that follow the ISO9001:2015 Quality Standard.
  8. Employee will maintain a safe, clean and well organized working environment in the repair area.


Position requirements

An ideal candidate for this position has good mechanical assembly skills and must be able to read assembly drawings and instructions. The candidate must also have the ability to read schematics and troubleshoot to component level. Good soldering skills and basic computer skills are required. Must be detail oriented and have a minimum of 3 years experience in a closely related job. Previous experience working in an ISO9001 work environment is also desirable.
