The Snowmaking Supervisor will provide direction, leadership and expertise to the Vail Mountain Snowmaking, Snow Shuttle and Summer Construction operations. This individual will be responsible for the safety, training, and supervision of Snowmakers, Snow Shuttle and Summer Construction employees at all levels.  This person will ensure proper installation and maintenance of snowmaking equipment.  They will also problem solve various issues to ensure an efficient, safe, snowmaking operation and summer operation.  The Supervisor must be proactive and look for improvements in all sides of this operation on a consistent basis. They are responsible for ensuring all compliance with all mandated policies and programs.

 

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Directs day to day work of employees within the Snowmaking, Snow Shuttle and Summer Construction groups; organizes and delegates daily workload.
  • Enforces policies, procedures and all safety guidelines.
  • Administrative duties including; hiring, scheduling, payroll, evaluations, purchasing and record keeping.
  • Supervise, schedule, and assist with all maintenance of snowmaking equipment and systems.
  • Lead and oversee all training of Snowmaking, Snow Shuttle and Summer Construction personnel.
  • Understand and inspect ongoing projects.
  • Constantly communicate with other departments regarding Snowmaking; Summer Construction and Transportation needs that includes active communication with senior leadership team.
  • Responsible for guest and employee safety throughout all operations, including compliance with OSHA and State regulatory operating requirements, as well as Federal regulations, USFS requirements, and Company policies.
  • Evaluate and implement initiatives to improve guest service and teamwork within the Snowmaking, Transportation and Summer Construction teams including long term capital planning and research of department goals. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent - required
  • Minimum of 4 years snowmaking or mountain operations experience - required
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience - required
  • Valid Drivers License - required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - required
  • Fluent in English - required
  • Intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability level - required
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of mountain operations - required
  • Experience managing outdoor labor intensive workload - preferred
