Summary The Facility Technician will work with the Maintenance and Facilities team in all aspects of the ongoing operations for the Distribution House in Mt. Juliet, TN, a suburb of Nashville. They will assist in all aspects of the Operational Maintenance department projects as well as maintaining the upkeep of the DH. This role shares in the responsibility of supporting and assisting the Maintenance and Facilities team to ensure that all tasks and projects are completed efficiently and effectively. Accountability for the routine maintenance including trouble-shooting electrical controls, ensuring proper functionality of all systems, and upholding the safety of all machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Assist and maintain the cleanliness of the DH – Inside and Out
  • Use personal protective equipment correctly such as safety glasses and vinyl gloves
  • Move/relocate furniture and or equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks
  • Notify supervisor about any safety concerns, possible threats, or repairs relating to the DH
  • Remove any and all debris from sidewalks, walkways, parking lots and common areas including trash, wood, snow, plastic, paper, using blowers, shovels and or chemicals
  • Shows initiative in regard to job functions and accepts new responsibilities as needed
  • Has a willingness to work with and help others
  • Must be willing to take on new task and training for better self- improvement
  • Operating power tools for minor repairs (leaky toilets, replacing/securing guard & safety rails)
  • Driving of Forklift and/or Pallet Truck
  • Able to operate a two way radio
  • Ability to learn the repair and maintenance of all types of conveyor including, motors, reducers, sorters, sensors and all other components used in the assigned area.
  • Ability to learn to trouble-shoot electrical controls (motor circuits, process or packaging machinery, and programmable controllers) using drawings, documentation, and required tools.
  • Determines parts requirements and availability. Retrieves parts, maintains parts/stock area and submits requests to reorder. Determines reasonable substitutions for parts that are unavailable.
  • Performs routine maintenance of systems as assigned through PM activities.
  • Ensure and repair that all safety systems are functioning properly on all machines.
  • Good attendance, punctuality and the ability to work overtime

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years of experience in skilled trade.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to follow precise written and oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate pertinent information to other members of the team in a respectful manner
Endurance
  • Ability to bend, walk, push and lift at least 40lbs several times a day, for extended periods of time, in varying climates
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues in a safe and positive manner
Computer Skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
Other Qualifications
  • Experience in basic construction (framing, sheetrock, window/door installation, remodel/rebuild)
  • Familiar with basic electric (swap out light fixtures)
  • Strives to continuously build
Work Environment

The temperatures in the DH can be uncomfortable at times, often very cold, or very hot, depending on the season. As a maintenance technician, circumstances may dictate the need to work outside or within the DH regardless of the weather. Therefore, it is imperative that those in this role be prepared for all conditions and climate changes.
