Our Vision for this Role

As a Transportation Planning Analyst you are a crucial part of our supply chain network, supporting the flow of goods from our domestic vendors to our stores. You’ll ensure we get the right product, to the right place, at the right time, which keeps our stores exciting and ever-changing. Working in a fast-paced retail business, no day will be the same!

You will be assigned to special projects which will optimize carrier performance, drive cost savings and teach you how to utilize the six sigma approach. As you grow in your career, you will have the opportunity move across our Logistics organization and develop a well-rounded background in several areas of our business.

The Skills that will Make You Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or Logistics with 2+ years of relatable experience.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment; product moves quickly through our supply chain network, it is important to react quickly to incoming requests.
  • Strong Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills; no day is the same in off-price retail, the ability to assess situations quickly and provide alternate solutions is key to success.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships; you are the face of TJX to many of our external strategic partners.
  • Flexible and adaptable; priorities change frequently based on business demands, the ability to change direction quickly is critical.
  • High aptitude for manipulating and making inferences from data.
The Responsibilities You will Have in this Role

  • Evaluates, modifies and enhances the TMS Solution to achieve optimal daily performance as needed.
  • Sources freight to carriers providing cost effective routing and reduced transit times.
  • Evaluates routing solutions, recommends optimal transportation solution and creates optimal freight movements.
  • Continues to develop Backhaul and Continuous Move opportunities with new carriers and DCs.
  • Consults with Inbound Transportation Operations Manager regarding daily carrier performance/equipment and vendor issues.
  • Assesses carrier capacity and lane performance ratings; evaluates and reports on carrier performance including On-time performance, EDI Compliance, and Acceptance/Decline rates.
  • Reports on and tracks all vendor service issues, partnering with the Merchandise Logistics team on Vendor Compliance.
  • Maintains daily contact with Core Carriers and regularly collaborates with internal key partners.
  • Partners with Merchandising on high priority freight and special high volume merchandise buys.
  • Evaluates and offers suggestions and feedback for improvements to the carrier tendering process; solicits feedback from the carrier community.
  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of Inbound Transportation flow from Vendors to TJX Distribution Centers and Consolidation points utilizing our Transportation Management System (TMS) for optimal freight considerations.
  • Evaluates, modifies and enhances the TMS recommended Inbound solution to ensure optimal load building of freight on a day to day basis across major modes of transportation (Truckload, Intermodal, LTL, and limited parcel).
