POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Manager and/or the Lead Cook on duty, it is the primary responsibility of the Dishwasher to see that all dishes, pots and pans, serving utensils, and silverware are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with MO Health Department regulations. He/She will maintain a clean and organized dish Room and a clean and descaled dish machine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Primary tasks will include but not be limited to: Completely set up and operate the "conveyer" dishwashing machine, Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize all dishes in accordance with all Health Department and YMCA of the Ozarks guidelines, Properly break down and clean the "conveyer" dishwashing machine, Ensure that all serving stations are completely stocked with trays, plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, and any other products that may be needed, prior to each meal period and at the end of the day, Assisting in the set up of all food serving aisles, Complete all daily and weekly cleaning checklists as assigned by the Lead Cook or the Food Service Manager on Duty, Assist in the set up, operation of, or breakdown of any catering event whether scheduled for that event or not, Be able to empty trash cans, mop floors, lift and carry cases of products, and any other cleaning and odd jobs that may be needed.

  2. Must be able to follow instructions from the Lead Cook or Host /Hostess on duty.

  3. Must be able to lift and carry bus tubs that could weigh up to 50 pounds.

  4. Follow all policies and procedures of the YMCA of the Ozarks, State of MO and the Food Service Department.

  5. Present a positive and courteous attitude to both the Guests of the YMCA of the Ozarks as well as all co-workers and all branch employees.

  6. Always remember that the Food Service Department is one team and your assistance may be required in other areas other than what you may be scheduled for on your shift.

  7. The Dishwasher will always report to work in the proper uniform, including nametag and present themselves with good overall hygiene for all scheduled shifts.

  8. The Dishwasher is one of the most important roles in the food service operation. Clean and Sanitized serving and eating tools are absolutely vital to an enjoyable and safe place to dine.

  9. This role will be an integral part of the team, providing our guest here at the YMCA of the Ozarks with a pleasant and memorable visit.

  10. This position must have at least some experience in dealing with the public and be able to work well in a fast paced environment.

  11. The Dishwasher will possess a working knowledge of proper Safety and Sanitation procedures in order to ensure that we are serving high quality and tasty food in our dining facility.

  12. The Dishwasher will project and maintain a great working atmosphere through teamwork, friendly and supportive attitude and helping out wherever or whenever possible.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: One year of food service related work experience is preferred but not necessary. On-site training is provided.

Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment: Serve Safe certification is a plus but not mandatory for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Physical Mobility: walking, climbing, stairs, standing, kneeling, bending, leaning, stooping and sitting for extended periods of time.

  2. Physical Dexterity: ability to tools and machinery as needed.

  3. Lifting: ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  4. Sensory Requirements: ability to hear, listen, speak, smell, touch, taste, see and distinguish colors.

  5. Ability to maintain alertness for several hours at a time.

  6. Ability to tolerate extreme temperature conditions (heat and/or cold)

  7. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
