Backend process control manager

Job Description:

General Summary:

This position manages and assures all the various metal related processes required to manufacture cast titanium hardware are maintained and controlled. In addition, oversees the development and enhancing of processes. The position oversees testing and evaluation of new materials for quality and cost improvements, continuous improvement activities introduced to improve our ability as well as capture new markets. Builds a team that focuses on objectives with timelines and milestones to assure target dates are met.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Develops and manages quarterly and yearly Process project pipeline. Develops long term goals for processes and individuals career growth

  2. Leads, develops and implements processes to improve productivity, reduce cost and lead time and increase market share

  3. Must partner with management team to ensure effective process development

  4. Must develop systems and controls to ensure process stability and compliance to Internal and Customer quality requirements

  5. Works with departments to continuously improve Cp and Cpk for critical processes

  6. Provides the Engineering expertise in the areas of process systems, raw materials and vended products

  7. Develops Project plans (milestones, resource planning, budget etc.) to meet Internal and External Customer objectives

  8. Manages projects by coordinating activities and resources, communicates change/progress, and performs the necessary tasks to meet Project objectives

  9. Able to lead and solve complex problems using analytical tools and to make data based decisions

  10. Follows and assures adherence to Quality procedures (QCM, PCP, etc.)

  11. Performs special projects as assigned by the General manager

  12. Performs other related duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to define, plan, coordinate and complete tasks correctly and on time

  2. Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles and methodology toward problem identification and resolution

  3. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels

  4. Knowledge of and ability to perform correct statistical analysis and prepare technical reports/presentations

  5. Ability to effectively work with people with diverse expertise and backgrounds

  6. In depth knowledge of Chemical milling, gate removal, straightening, thermal processing, NDT, and rework operations

  7. Demonstrated proficiency in MiniTab, Statistica,,MS Office programs: Project,Word, Excel and Powerpoint required


Education and Experience:

BS in an engineering related field required, Ceramics, Chemical, Material Science, Mechanical or Metallurgical. Minimum of two years previous project/process engineering experience demonstrating strong leadership skills. Minimum of two years of experience managing a department of 5 plus people. The degree requirement can be reduced if the candidate has more than 5 years of experience of large Ti casting back end processing.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to read reports and use computers. Ability to communicate, write, type and operate office equipment. Ability to exert over fifty pounds of force to move an object. Ability to work in an environment with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals and varying temperatures
