Position Purpose:

 

The Pet Services Coach is responsible for ensuring excellent service and care for all animals in our responsibility.  Through the lens of our PetCoach values, the Pet Service Coach will be the catalyst, champion, and role model for all relationship building touch points with our guests.  They will mentor all PetCoaches providing services including Grooming, Training and Dog Day Care.  You must be a high performing pet loving coach, obsessed with accompanying pet parents on their journey as they learn, shop, and discover the wide array of services we provide. Most importantly, you share the PetCoach mission and values with all partners and guests.

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

  • Lead a diverse team of pet service providers including groomers, trainers, and day care providers Ensure that all service providers deliver a consistent, professional experience aligned with our Brand Standards and Guest Promise.  Supervise all daily activities.

  • Ensure that all PetCoaches (store associates and service providers) understand how to build a personalized care plan that includes vet, grooming, training, and the necessary products and nutrition. 

  • Manage and coach team in best guest interactions, provide training as warranted to maintain skill levels; lead store execution, communication and maintenance of all initiatives, programs, policies, procedures, safety practices, and promotions.

  • Leverage existing programs and resources to promote services in store and in the community.

  • Partner with PetCoach Business Operations team to identify unique and creative ways to increase market share and community footprint.

  • Using sales, payroll, margin, pet services p&l, and ecommerce reports, monitor the performance of each business and develop plans to correct any area missing their target.  Conduct monthly reviews of the business – celebrate the wins and develop action plans to address any performance gaps. 

  • Execute all daily and weekly salon, day care, and training business practices to ensure proper scheduling and client development.

  • Work strategically with the Head Coach, other leaders in store, direct reports and all store partners to support the PetCoach business plans, objectives and goals for sales, productivity and margin dollars.

  • Measure the performance effectiveness of all direct reports and provide clear, direct feedback and coaching.  While coaching is a daily responsibility, Pet Services Coach will also conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports.

  • Perform duties and assume responsibility as the Leader on Duty (LOD) as needed. 

  • Provide prompt and courteous service to all guests by determining their needs, sharing product knowledge and suggesting he appropriate merchandise to satisfy their needs.

  • Ensure the store is opened/ closed in accordance with established Policies and Procedures. 

  • Adhere to and promote established safety procedures.

  • Perform all special or other projects as assigned

Work Environment:

 

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs using material handling equipment.  Improper use of safety equipment and/ or not following proper lifting techniques may pose risk of injury to guests, pets and store personnel.

Education and Experience:

 

High school diploma or equivalent is required, college degree preferred. 

Previous experience in guest services roles as a department leader and store partner preferred.  Must have 1 year experience supervising partners, or demonstrate an aptitude for training, motivation and sales techniques, analytical abilities as well as a professional appearance and demeanor.
