Position Purpose:
The Sr. Financial/Accounting Analyst will be for our San Diego, CA location. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, and support the Manager of Capital Planning & IT. Will perform analyses and various financial reports that focus on assisting management in preparing budgets, understanding company/store/distribution center performance, supporting financial systems, and act as a lead to junior analysts. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis. Evaluate current financial systems and procedures, develop and implement process and procedure improvements.   Provide forecasting and reporting support for capital finance, and review and identify key drivers for variances.
 
 
Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests.
  • Identify reporting needs and manage creation of complex management reports.
  • Analyze complex financial data to determine appropriate recommendation for action.
  • Work with full P&L statements, budgeting, and 5 year planning.
  • Implement and develop new process improvements.
  • Work with balance sheet analytics.
  • Present analytical data to interpret to non-technical audience.
  • Utilizing Essbase, PeopleSoft Financial, and Blackline Accounts Reconciliation System (ARMS).
  • Analyze capital impact on cash flow and balance sheet; reviewing monthly forecast changes and impacts for both capital cash purchases and capital with accruals.
  • Provide capital support to tax team
  • Occasional peak time work required through month-end close forecasting and budget.

Work Environment:
           
The majority of job duties are conducted while seated indoors at a computer terminal, with little or no exposure to hazards.  Occasional travel may be required for financial presentations or training.

 

 

Education/Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business in Finance or Accounting required; MBA in Finance, CPA or CMA a plus.
  • 5 or more years related experience in financial analysis plus experience within retail operations and/or capital financial analysis.
  • 3 – 5 years experience with balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and capital spending analysis.
  • Advanced financial analytical skills, and advanced skill level with MS Excel.
  • Deep understanding of financial statements and what drives profitability.
  • Strong technical skills and advanced hands-on experience working with financial and database software. 
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and what drives profitability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and experience with creating process improvements.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills due to the nature and level of interaction with senior management and other departments.
  • Tax and real estate experience is a plus.
