RIB CITY LINE COOK

Reports To:      Manager on Duty

Job Description:   The Line Cook is responsible preparing fresh, delicious food that looks great and maintaining a strict adherence to Rib City recipe standards.  Safe food handling, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards during the shift and preparing food with proper equipment, tools and specs with direction from Management. Responsible for knowing the hierarchy of food storage in the coolers and freezers and keeping the dry storage area organized. Cleaning and maintaining the line station, monitoring ticket times and food quality.  This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a high volume, full-service kitchen
  • Minimum of 18 years of age with legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
  • Successful completion of Rib City Training program and testing (with a score of 90% or above).
  • Hold valid food handler safety card or obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Ability to learn quickly and to perform many different tasks within the restaurant during shift
  • Work at a pace consistent with changing business volume and demands
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.  Ability to communicate clearly and calmly with managers and team members
  • Ability to work as part of a team, build relationships and take direction
  • Have good hygiene and personal grooming habits

 

Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                                 

  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the restaurant operating to standard and to set a positive example
  • Complete prep tasks ensuring Rib City’s recipes are always being followed by using recipe book
  • Make decisions and solve problems in the interest of 100% guest satisfaction
  • Follows Rib City operational policies, standards and procedures, including safety and security
  • Cook tickets to order ensuring quality along with time standards are being met
  • Always follows store par levels when smoking meats, prepping recipes and loading ovens
  • Maintains a clean and organized workplace
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include mornings, weekends, nights and/or holidays                                                                                                
  • Thorough knowledge of all menu items and is prepared to answer any question                                                                                            
  • Stays on top of running side work throughout the shift, wash and put away dishes when not busy and assists other staff members when needed     
  • Completes all opening and closing side work, daily and weekly cleaning projects before leaving                                            
  • Any duties relevant to the restaurant which you are capable of and have received proper training for


Physical Requirements:

  • Read, write and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to work in a high-temperature kitchen for an extended period of time
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend over throughout shift
  • Lift, load and carry a maximum of 50 pounds.  Any weight over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Work with cold and extremely hot food products, utensils, dinner plates and glassware
