POSITION SUMMARY:
 

As a member of the Business Process Governance team the Sr. Business Analyst, Planning and Reporting Process Management will be responsible for supporting the lodging operating and capital budget processes and lodging operations reporting on a global basis, the development and delivery of global management reports that provide accurate, timely and actionable information on global business results and capital investments and the development of routine reporting of key business indicators that serve as an early warning system of business changes and risks.

 
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION
  • Support the facilitation of the global operating budget/business plan and capital budget processes. Assist in the development and communication of guidelines, timelines and resources to support the processes
  • Facilitate enhancement and support of hotel global operating budget and forecasting tools.  Develop/enhance automation of these tools, leveraging advanced visual basic knowledge, and create interfaces with other tools and data sources as needed.
  • Provide support, configuration, and development of requirements, and testing for the global capital budgeting tool/system. 
  • Work with continent offices to facilitate training on forecasting and budgeting tools as needed.
  • Support team’s efforts to continually improve planning tools and techniques with an emphasis on automation.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of key global management reports and metrics providing comparable analysis of business performance, insight to business results, trends and risk areas for Continent and Headquarters leaders
  • Prepare key metric reports comparing operational results across properties and brands to focus attention on hotels/brands that fall short in key areas
  • Prepare and distribute the weekly sales flash report
  • Execute programs and processes for sharing of information among the global market analysts and for facilitating the ongoing improvement of management reporting and planning processes across the continents and brands
  • Support chart of account maintenance for market operations; partner with continent teams, Financial Applications Business Support and other Business Process Governance team members to ensure continued alignment and consistent mapping of accounts in transaction and reporting applications
  • Fulfill data gathering/analysis requests utilizing various financial reporting tools, including PeopleSoft nVision/Query and Hyperion SmartView/Financial Reports
  • Provide and update hotel operating unit metadata as needed for new unit setup and ongoing maintenance
  • Build relationships with all Finance teams to promote the delivery of services that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
Key Talents and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required
  • Expertise creating and editing complex Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros is required
  • Oracle Hyperion reporting technology experience is preferred
  • PeopleSoft Financials nVision/Query reporting experience is preferred.
  • Experience creating/editing Microsoft Access queries is preferred
  • Marriott experience as a hotel Assistant Director of Finance is a plus
  • General knowledge of Marriott hotel and administrative accounting and finance processes and systems, especially PeopleSoft Financials and Oracle Hyperion is a plus
  • Knowledge of generally accepted finance and accounting policies, principles and controls
  • Knowledge of hotel and administrative accounting and reporting processes and systems
  • Understands the need for effective data and business process governance.

Education and Professional Certification

  • Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting or Information Systems required
