PURPOSE OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Property Manager, the Custodian I performs routine recurring and non-recurring functions related to the House Department in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards of the Association and the Branch.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Actively Promote the Association and Branch Safety Program.
  2. Sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, sauna, and whirlpool and steam rooms.
  3. Sweep, mop, wooden and non-wooden floors.
  4. Vacuum and maintain carpets.
  5. Dust and high dusting
  6. Clean windows and mirrors.
  7. Empty Trash and sanitize trashcans.
  8. Pick up trash and debris from parking lot, facility grounds and perimeter.
  9. Ensure safe operation of all facility equipment.
  10. Clean lockers, doors, dispensers, drinking fountains, benches, chairs, sinks, countertops, and appliances.
  11. Do laundry.
  12. Keeping cleaning tools clean and functional.
  13. Maintaining an organized workspace.
  14. Follow a shift schedule and follow time card protocol.
  15. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways and parking lot.
  16. Set up and tear down tables and chairs for various functions.
  17. Perform all assigned duties necessary to keep the facilities clean, safe and in proper working order in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards of the Association and the Branch.
  18. Other related duties as assigned.
  19. Perform all duties with honesty, caring, respect, responsibility and faith.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  1. Must present a positive can do attitude, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  2. Must be detail oriented.
  3. Must be able to complete all jobs assigned in a timely manner.
  4. Must be willing and able to work nights and or weekends.
  5. Must be trustworthy.
  6. Must be physically able to use such tools as vacuums, mops, dust mops, and the like.
  7. Must be able to lift 50 lbs with assistance.
  8. Must possess strong communication skills (oral) and be able to learn and articulate the Mission of the YMCA.
  9. Must be willing to work as part of a team, for overall success.
  10. Must be willing to interact with all members.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is desirable

Experience: Experience in Commercial housekeeping is desirable, but not required
