Position Purpose:
The Marketing & Event Specialist will be in our San Antonio, TX office and reporting to the Marketing and Events Manager. The Marketing & Events Specialist will help the Foundation brand come to life by supporting all aspects of special events and virtual brand activations. Responsible for working with the Marketing and Events manager to support partnerships as well as drive donor and partner engagement.
 
 
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Help plan and execute Petco Foundation events including the Petco Foundation Thanks-For-Giving Golf Tournament, Petco Foundation Lifesaving Awards, Holiday Wishes and in-store activations to support annual campaigns. 
  • Assist with all aspects of event planning, timelines, marketing/promotion, food and beverage, registration, give-a-ways and decor, in order to ensure cost effectiveness and positive impact.
  • Support brand activations including influencer partnerships and Foundation campaign activations like the in-store Be-a-Foster event.
  • Use brand voice and style to create compelling visual and written content to support events and campaigns that meets established goals and expectations and publishes on social media channels, email and website.
  • Produce brand-right copy and develop brand-right content for event-related collateral
  • Ensure a positive experience for all Petco Foundation sponsors, donors and vendors throughout the entire event process.
  • Coordinate marketing kits for partnership initiatives.
  • Assist with writing and scheduling social media posts as needed.  
  • Engage with social community and respond to social media requests.
  • Partner with internal teams to select, order, design and distribute branded collateral and premiums for influencers and donors.
  • Support Petco Foundation special events by working in partnership with Petco colleagues to develop content for invitation, program script, multi-media presentations, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience; plus a minimum of 3 years experience in marketing, social media and event coordination; knowledge of fundraising and donor stewardship strategies strongly preferred.
  • Excellent writer and strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of design best practices and how to prepare design files for print and web publishing using Adobe Creative Suite programs.
  • Demonstrated success in coordination of details for events and/or creative partnerships; able to prioritize work assignments; and ability to demonstrate the personal and emotional impact of our work.
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office Suite; and ability to quickly learn and assimilate new computer software.
  • Proficiency with social media channels to include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and social media management & reporting platforms.
  • Comfortable with web publishing and email marketing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop relationships with internal stakeholders, donors, volunteers, animal welfare partners, industry partners and teammates.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects accurately and on tight deadlines; flexibility to deal with unanticipated projects that have tight turnaround times by adjusting schedules for other projects and communicating changes to stakeholders and team.
  • Self-motivated, good at taking initiative, and comfortable operating under a degree of ambiguity; willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategy;
  • Ability to create presentation decks using MS PowerPoint or other programs.
