Medical Director

 

Two Spirit Health is currently seeking a Medical Director to join our team in Orlando, FL

About the role:

        The Medical Director’s work focuses on both the management of the medical clinic, as well as the delivery of direct services with TSHS medical patients. The Medical Director requires a high level of clinical knowledge for understanding what patients need from their treatment within the context of their LGBTQ+ identity, along with other marginalized identities that are relevant to treatment. The medical director must be a skilled communicator with the interpersonal skills to constantly supervise diverse staff members. Managerial, team-building, critical thinking, and decision-making skills are a must. The medical director should have the analytical skills for interpreting health regulations and applying them in new protocols. Organization skills with a keen eye for detail is important for this person to keep patient records, budgets, and schedules in perfect order. The medical director should also be compassionate, sympathetic, and ethical in their leadership.

 

What you’ll do:

Clinical Practice

·       Provide clinic services for 20 hours per week.

·       Maintain confidentiality of records relating to patients' treatment.

·       Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.

·       Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests.

·       Act as client advocates to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.

·       Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.

·       Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.

·       Provide medication management to patients as required

·       Act as an advocate for patients and colleagues

  • Ensure awareness of sources of support and guidance and provide information in an acceptable format to all patients, recognizing any difficulties and referring where appropriate 

 

Delivering a quality service

  • Recognize and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by Applicable state and federal laws.
  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures
  • Assess effectiveness of care delivery through self and peer review, benchmarking and formal evaluation
  • Initiate and participate in the maintenance of quality governance systems and processes across the organization and its activities
  • Understand and apply legal issues that support the identification of vulnerable and abused children and adults, and be aware of statutory child/vulnerable patients health procedures and local guidance
  • Working with practice management to ensure the whole team have skills and knowledge regarding domestic violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse and addictive behaviour. Provide guidance and support to ensure appropriate referral if required 
  • Manage and assess risk within the areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients
  • Interpret national strategies and policies into local implementation strategies that are aligned to the values and culture of general practice
  • Identify patterns of discrimination and act to overcome this and promote diversity and equality of opportunity
  • Enable others to promote equality and diversity in a non-discriminatory culture
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection process of medical providers and medical assistants
  • Perform clinical supervision of clinic staff, including regular performance appraisals and feedback.
  • Advise on the purchase of medical equipment
  • Lead planning for the development of new clinical programs
  • Review patient medical charts for understanding of patient needs

 

Our ideal candidate:

Education and Experience

·       5+ years of experience practicing Medicine

·       Must have a MD M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) or DO D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)

·       Must have experience in Microsoft Office Platforms, E-Clinical Works Electronic Medical Record and attention to detail.  Strong written and verbal communications skills. 

·       Work as a self-starter and under little direction on tasks provided by leaders.

·       Be forward thinking on tasks and proactive in dealing/managing challenges and/or obstacles.

·       The Medical Director should possess an active license to practice medicine in the State of Florida, in accordance with Florida Statutes.
