Job Purpose

The Crisis Therapist is responsible for providing quality crisis assessment and intervention to individuals presenting with a mental health or substance use disorder crisis in a timely and responsible manner.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related Field.
  • Must have all necessary course work and meet all the requirements to be licensed within the State of Missouri, at a minimum be eligible to begin supervision. OR
  • Must meet the Department of Mental Health’s Criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional.

Core Job Duties

  • Conduct Crisis Assessments to determine appropriate level of care.
  • Provide Crisis Interventions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all civil involuntary detention procedures.
  • Discharge/transition/aftercare plans completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide lethal means counseling and complete safety plan with clients.
  • Link individuals with resources and ongoing mental health/substance use disorder treatment.
  • Provide mobile response as needed for crisis interventions.
  • Follow up with individuals after crisis interventions are provided to ensure safe care transitions.
  • Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
  • Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
  • Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
  • Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
