Purchasing Manager/Senior Buyer

Purchasing Manager/Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing diversified commodities on a competitive basis in the open market as requested. This includes responsibility for placing orders, expediting back orders, processing requisitions, clarifying specifications, selecting vendors, maintaining up-to-date product information files, and researching of products.

Job Description:

1.Processes requisitions for supplies, researches products, clarifies specifications, documents competitive bids, enters purchase orders.

2.Follows up back orders, expedites delivery of orders, and makes arrangements for deliveries. Communicates to the departments the expected delivery dates.

3.Places orders utilizing personal computers and MRP software system.

4.Researches and selects vendors in given circumstances, evaluates vendor performance, utilizes different vendor sources to fill orders as directed.

5.Maintains an up-to-date filing system on pricing and vendors to ensure immediate and accurate access to information.

6.Searches out alternate vendors or supplies during periods of shortages or stockouts.

7.Aggressively seeks cost savings from current or alternative suppliers on a regular basis.

8.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.Associates Degree in Business, Accounting, or similar field or equivalent work experience.

2.Two years of experience as buyer or any combination of experience, education, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required.

3.Knowledge of basic typing skills and of personal computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and MRP software mandatory.

4.Ability to communicate effectively with all plant personnel, suppliers, etc. by telephone, in person, or through written communications. Need to assimilate information, make decisions, and be able to work under pressure in a detailed and organized manner.
