Job Description
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Functions of Position:
1. Makes rounds regularly to nursing stations to deliver medications and return unused medications to the pharmacy.
2. Retrieve medications according to Pyxis refill reports, and deliver to Pyxis Med Stations for replenishment after checked by a pharmacist.
3. Selects appropriate amounts of medication for each patient per medication cart fill reports and prepares for delivery to nursing stations.
4. Enters patients' daily medication charges into computer.
5. Aids in filling outpatient prescriptions in the employee retail pharmacy.
6. Answers phones to receive medication orders and receive and direct information to the proper person.
7. Types medication labels.
8. Helps maintain pharmacy inventory at appropriate level and assists pharmacists in total pharmacy operation.
9. Keeps records on all drugs delivered to Pharmacy.
10. Checks and prices incoming merchandise and mark invoices for payment.
11. Perform any other duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school graduate, or GED equivalent, preferred.
LICENSURE: Current Missouri Pharmacy Technician license issued by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy. Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Pharmacy experience desirable.
SPECIAL:
TYPING: Ability to type.
MACHINE OPERATION: Calculator, copy machine, and computer.
PHYSICAL:
STANDING: Will spend majority of shift standing.
WALKING: Considerable amount of routine walking throughout hospital.
LIFTING: Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
VISUAL: Must have the ability to read doctor's orders, medication names and strengths.
HEARING: Must have the ability to receive and understand phone calls.
HAZARDS: May prepare chemotherapy admixtures and work with toxic chemicals
