JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: The Lab Technician / Operations Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the laboratory's hardware, fixtures, gages, and instruments. This role involves equipment and inventory management, lab audits, resource planning, and ensuring the smooth operation of lab activities. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a process improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, track, and manage testing fixtures and gages. Maintain records of equipment check-in/check-out of labs for PM, calibration, repair, and decommissioning.
Manage external and internal calibrations, communicate extensively with internal Metrology and external calibration entities.
Ability to communicate and relay calibration requirements (ISO 17025), and gather and report calibration statuses.
Manage instrument inventory, including labeling, tracking, and maintaining accurate records of all instruments in the lab.
Plan and allocate lab resources efficiently, including tracking hardware and software release statuses.
Order lab supplies and maintain all capital equipment. Responsible for shipping and receiving equipment.
Conduct regular lab audits to ensure lab is compliant and well-organized.
Perform EH&S activities and walkthroughs to identify and resolve issues.
Drive team utilization and maintain Fixture-Gage Database. Examine database logs and identify missing equipment.
Ensure the lab space and allocated onsite storage space is utilized effectively.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Experience with inventory management systems and lab operations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to have:
Experience using lab management software and tools such as Jira, Maximo, Ariba, excel, or other database systems.
