- Required: Must possess a Texas Operator's or class C driver's license and be insurable by the District
- Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions

- Ability to operate power-driven equipment
- Experience in maintenance of athletic grounds & buildings and/or the operation of mowers, edgers, weed eaters, spreaders, sprinkler heads, line markers and other related athletic equipment.
- General knowledge of machinery, hand tools and general maintenance.
- Demonstrate a willingness to work the hours necessary to ensure job requirements are satisfied and work overtime if necessary. Work hours can be weather dependent.
- Demonstrate the willingness to work split shifts, nights, weekends & holidays as job requirements dictate.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and school staff.
- Must be able to take directions and complete assigned tasks on schedule without direct supervision.
- Conform to all Board Policies & Procedures, Administrative Directives and Departmental Rules & Regulations.
- Perform all tasks required within the responsibilities and function of this position.
- Safely operate all types of mowing, trimming and ground maintenance equipment proficiently.
- Safely operate pickup truck with trailer for equipment transport.
- Water, fertilize, mark, aerate, mow and rake Buc & Cabaniss Athletic Complex as well as all high school & middle school fields weekly.
- Trim trees and shrubs in athletic field areas.
- Assist in planting grass, plants, shrubs and trees.
- Clean and check athletic equipment for proper operation and safety.
- Properly maintain artificial turf fields at stadiums and high schools.
- Properly maintain natural grass fields at all campuses.
- Assist in cleaning all athletic facilities and buildings.
- Sweep and clean facilities before and after each game, meet or activity.
- Clean and remove trash, brush and salvage materials from campus & stadium athletic facilities.
- Assist athletic staff as needed which may include but not limited to: repairing athletic equipment, setting posts of all types, fence work, repair bleachers etc...
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Check to ensure the safety of students and staff at all times.
- Record accurate information on work request and daily logs.
- Responsible for quality of work performed.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
- Lifting (heavy, 45 pounds or over), carrying (heavy, 45 pounds or over), stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffold, ramps), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck, bus).
- Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dusts, smoke, etc.), inside, humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, microwaves, uneven surfaces, works with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone, prolonged or irregular hours, biological exposure (insects, mold, fungi, bacteria, animals, plants, etc.).

Under the supervision of the Office of Athletics and the general supervision of the Athletic Facility Manager assist with the maintenance of grounds, buildings and athletic equipment for practice and competition. Assist in supporting the activities of athletic programs and projects. Helps ensure other desirable environmental conditions are met in order to support the education mission of the District.
