Travel Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel RN, On-Site
• Location: Abilene, TX 79601 (West Texas)
• Start Date: November 10, 2025 (flexible to December 1, 2025)
• End Date: February 9, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Labor & Delivery Recovery Room
• Orientation: 16 hours in-person plus 6-8 hours of online modules
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $2040

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required for Texas nursing jobs (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications required
• Willingness to float to other campuses or hospital units as needed
• Must reside at least 150 miles from facility (travel nurse requirement)
• First-time travel nurses welcome
• Experience with Allscripts or Altera charting systems preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and recovery
• Monitor maternal and fetal health, interpret fetal heart tracings, and respond to obstetric emergencies
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk births
• Administer medications, IVs, and manage epidural anesthesia
• Support breastfeeding and educate new parents
• Perform newborn assessments, including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Follow infection control protocols and hospital policies
• Participate in orientation and complete required training modules
