We are hiring a Maintenance Technician perform repairs and tasks as needed for properties owned or leased by Buckelew Programs including all residential facilities and, on a minor basis, at Buckelew offices. Through this work, the Maintenance Technician contributes directly to a positive client experience and a workplace culture rooted in Buckelew’s mission and values. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

 

  • Troubleshoot and repair residential electrical systems (lighting, outlets, breakers, wiring).
  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including water heaters, faucets, toilets, and drainage.
  • Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks, including drywall repair, door and trim work.
  • Determine need for general cleaning at all facilities and offices, including debris hauling, and complete or arrange for this to be done.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance, including changing locks and door hardware.
  • Prioritize and respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and document findings.
  • Collaborate with property management, residents, and vendors to coordinate repairs.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environments and follow all applicable safety codes.
  • Pick up, deliver, assemble or move agency furniture and appliances, or arrange for this to be done.
  • Notify Facilities Manager or site supervisors if vendors/contractors are necessary and arrange for vendors to perform work when requested.
  • Ability to coordinate between staff and contractors for extended work projects.
  • At the direction of the Facilities Manager or site supervisors, perform work when requested.
  • Successfully communicate with company staff issues related to repairs and maintenance issues needed or completed so that facility upkeep is maintained.
  • Maintain good relationships with staff and clients.

 

 

Qualifications


WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

 

Education and Experience

 

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in residential maintenance, with emphasis on general house maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical at all residential facilities and, on a minor basis, at organization offices.

 

 

Skills and Abilities

 

 

  • Must own and maintain a reliable set of hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills - need to communicate with program managers and/or site Team Leaders to determine needed service and work with Facilities Manager on costs.
  • Valid driver’s license must always be current; ability to drive to various sites within Marin and Sonoma Counties. 
  • General understanding of Buckelew facilities/buildings and ability to perform work while clients are present.
  • Appliance repair and plumbing expertise preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office and email
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

 

 

Physical Requirements

 

 

  • Capable of the following intermittent activities:  bending, kneeling, writing, reaching above and below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting up to 50 pounds in weight.
