We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with relevant experience in veterinary settings. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will support veterinarians and licensed veterinary technician in providing high-quality care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being during visits. Your role will involve a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the clinic and the health of our animal patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and licensed technicians during examinations and procedures, ensuring proper animal restraint and comfort.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian and licensed technicians, including injections and oral medications.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including exam rooms and surgical areas, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Handle animals with care, ensuring their safety and comfort during visits.
- Monitor animal behavior and vital signs to report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, treatments administered, and inventory of supplies.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology.
- Experience with animal handling techniques, including dog handling and animal restraint.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential.
- Certification or training as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician is beneficial but not required. Join us in making a difference in the lives of animals and our community.
