Structural Fitter/FLUX Welder

Chalmette, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Fitter.

Essential Duties:
• Assemble, configure, install, and fit various fabricated steel products in accordance with blueprints and detail drawings.
• Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications.
• Consult blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; create working procedures based on specifications.
• Gather equipment and materials for each job.
• Weld, cut, bend, thread, solder, and fit materials.
• Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitor welding, burning, and fitting processes to prevent overheating, warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and work area.
• Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
 • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Skills:
• Ability to read schematics and blueprints (Required).
• Ability to use a variety of tools, including blowtorches, saws, grinders, and welding torches.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 • Completion of a formal apprenticeship OR successful completion of an in-company, three-year training program required.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
 • Must possess visual acuity to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.
