PCU RN Job Details – Asheville, NC

• Location: Asheville, North Carolina 28801
• Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Owen Heart Center, 5th Floor
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing job
• Start Date: December 1, 2025
• End Date: March 2, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: May float to MedSurg, Stepdown, COVID unit, and ER holding
• Dress Code: All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680 - $1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry nursing experience
• Proficient in titrating and administering cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, bumex/Lasix)
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and positive attitude
• Preferred: Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge nurse experience

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-cardiac procedures
• Monitor and interpret telemetry; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer and titrate cardiac IV medications as ordered
• Perform bedside procedures including cardioversion
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team: charge nurses, PCTs, unit secretaries
• Document patient care using Cerner EMR
• Float to other nursing units as needed to support patient care
