Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director, Clinical Services, the Trainer, Clinical Development (LVN) performs a variety of tasks to ensure TVHC’s Medical Assistants, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Registered Nurses receive proper and consistent training across all clinical departments.


The Trainer performs full Medical Assistant and Licensed Vocational Nurse responsibilities as part of hands-on training for new hires and provides one-on-one instruction to ensure clinical competencies are met. The Trainer also coordinates and facilitates training for Registered Nurses, ensuring RN-specific competencies are delivered by an appropriately licensed designee.

Schedule: This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday hours.

Compensation: $37.58 - $41.07 per hour, depending on experience.


This position is represented by SEIU, with compensation and benefits determined by the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Salary is based on the wage scales outlined in the agreement. Responsibilities:

  • Trains new and current MAs and LVNS on required clinical competencies, including clinical workflows, CLIA/lab procedures, vaccine administration, infection prevention, and use of TVHC systems.
  • Coordinates and facilitates training for RNs ensuring RN-specific competencies are provided and validated by an appropriately licensed designee. Provides instruction to RNs on shared clinical workflows, infection prevention, systems, and other cross-functional areas within LVN scope.
  • Performs all Medical Assistant and Licensed Vocational Nurse responsibilities utilizing best practice standards and promoting TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards.
  • Creates and develops training materials, which may include SOPs, workflows, presentations, and procedures.
  • Identifies areas or skill sets that require retraining or additional support and provides follow-up education as needed.
  • Supports MAs, LVNs, and RNs in registering for and maintaining access to required systems (e.g., EZIZ, CAIR, Epic) and monitors compliance to ensure accounts remain active and up to date.
  • Partners with clinic leadership to support clinical workflows, quality initiatives, and new product or equipment implementation.
  • Assists with quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control practices to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Provides mentoring, assessment, and feedback regarding performance as part of the educational process.
  • Stays current with evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in clinical education and Medical Assistant and nursing support training.
  • Serves as an Epic “superuser,” providing EHR orientation, ongoing individual support, and refreshers for clinical staff in collaboration with IT. Assists in the design and delivery of EHR workflows and related training materials.
  • Acts as a resource for clinical staff to answer questions, provide coaching, and assess performance in the execution of job duties.
  • Creates new hire orientation schedules in collaboration with site leadership.
  • Ensures all Medical Assistants, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Registered Nurses are trained, signed off, and current with all competency and compliance requirements according to scope.
  • Provides back-up support to clinical staff as needed, ensuring all duties performed are within LVN scope.
  • Fosters professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards.
  • Travels frequently to multiple TVHC sites to conduct training, provide on-site clinical support, evaluate staff competencies.
  • May attend departmental and interdepartmental meetings to align training initiatives with clinical and operational priorities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent clinical experience required.
  • Experience developing and facilitating clinical training for healthcare team members with varying levels of experience and education required.
  • Proficient in clinical competencies across multiple specialties, including Adult Medicine, Family Medicine, Women’s Health, and Pediatrics required.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver evidence-based training materials and workflows required.
  • Experience in a primary care setting preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Must have the ability and flexibility to travel to designated locations as directed by supervisor.
