Job Description & Requirements

Unit Overview:
This NICU cares for infants with a variety of high-acuity neonatal conditions. Travelers should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing complex clinical situations independently.
Common Diagnoses / Procedures:
- Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS)
- Hypoglycemia
- Prematurity
- Rule-out Sepsis
- Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN)
Special Procedures Performed on Unit:
- Assisting with circumcisions
- PICC line removal
- Assisting with lumbar punctures
- Assisting with neonatal eye exams
Common Medications:
- Iron supplementation
- Vitamin infusions
- Caffeine
- Antibiotics
Common Equipment:
- Ventilators
- Giraffe beds
- Feeding pumps
- IV pumps
Float Expectations:
Travelers may be required to float based on census to:
- Mother/Child Health (MCH)
- Postpartum
- Newborn Nursery
- House-wide sitter assignments
Shift Details: - Hours: 19:00–07:30
- Weekends: Required
Required Certifications:
- BLS
- NRP
- PALS (if applicable)
- BCLS
Must have previous traveler experience. - Required / Preferred Skills
- Line Management:
- Required: IV insertion
- Required: PICC/Central line management
- Required: Arterial line (A-line) management
- Airway/Respiratory Skills:
- Required: CPAP/BiPAP management
- Required: Ventilator management
