About this job
This position will provide professional, accurate and comprehensive administrative support to members of the research, teaching, and clinical faculty in the Department of Pathology in the School of Medicine. The incumbent will be part of a team that includes Administrative Officers and Health Education Specialists at the Parnassus location. The incumbent will primarily provide responses to complex inquiries (phone/email) from internal departments and outside organizations, conduct web searches on PubMed for scientific journal articles for research, scheduling and coordinating complex meetings and conferences, making complex travel arrangements, maintaining complex service and faculty calendars, prepare and submit expense reimbursements, space surveys, and physical inventories. The incumbent also assists with ordering/purchasing reconciliation and laboratory administrative tasks. All of the above will require excellent analytical and independent problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with limited supervision.
This position provides occasional administrative support and inter-department website and end-user updates. The position also manages the Mechanisms of Disease Grand Rounds Course which is the Department of Pathology's and Laboratory Medicine's core continuing medical education course throughout the academic year. Position also helps support the department's facility management specialist with various facilities and space duties as it pertains to all space controlled by the department.

The Department provides diagnostic pathology services in a wide variety of subspecialties with highly trained subspecialists who are recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise. The Department's research programs are diverse and interface with a wealth of basic and translational research programs that are a hallmark of UCSF. Our educational programs include a research-intensive academic residency program and fellowships in cytopathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal and liver pathology, gynecologic pathology, neuropathology, breast pathology, genitourinary pathology, molecular and laboratory genetics and genomics pathology, and surgical pathology.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. 1-3 yrs of related experience
- Knowledge of secure software development
- Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts
- Demonstrated software repository skills
- Experience with common programming tools
- Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
- Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of protocols relating to grant application preparations
- Knowledge of large equipment purchasing protocols
- Knowledge of animal-research protocols
- Knowledge of UCSF brand identity guidelines
- Knowledge with using Archibus Space Planning System
