Direct Counsel is partnering with a nationally recognized law firm to identify a seasoned Health Care Litigation Attorney for offices in Sacramento. This is a high-impact role representing major health systems, hospitals, and providers in complex, high-exposure litigation within a collaborative, business-driven practice.
This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in health care reimbursement disputes or sophisticated business litigation who is ready to step into challenging, high-profile matters and work directly with sophisticated clients.
Position Overview
The attorney will manage a diverse caseload of health care-related disputes, including reimbursement litigation, government investigations, corporate and shareholder matters, and complex multiparty cases. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced litigators representing hospitals, medical groups, and health care entities across state and federal courts.
This role suits someone who is strategic, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating the regulatory and legal complexities unique to the health care industry.
Core Responsibilities
Represent health care providers, hospitals, and health systems in reimbursement disputes, business litigation, and government investigations
Draft, review, and argue motions, pleadings, and discovery in complex litigation matters
Lead and support reimbursement actions involving major health plans and insurers
Review and negotiate contracts, settlements, and related agreements tied to health care operations
Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trial proceedings
Conduct in-depth legal research and monitor developments in health care law and compliance
Manage multiple active matters while coordinating litigation strategy and client communication
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic performance
Active California bar license
5+ years of litigation experience, ideally with a focus on health care reimbursement or complex business disputes
Demonstrated experience with discovery, case management, and trial preparation
Solid understanding of federal and California health care regulations and reimbursement frameworks
Excellent writing, research, and analytical capabilities
Strong client-facing skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $200,000 – $275,000, depending on experience
Bonus: Up to $112,500 based on performance
