Senior Accounting Analyst (Grants & Reconciliation)

Full-Time | Contract Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accounting Analyst to support a dynamic Finance team within a Rhode Island state agency. This role plays a critical part in financial reporting, grant management, and complex reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced financial analysis and reconciliation across grants, budgets, and accounts
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Review and resolve discrepancies within the general ledger, assets, and liabilities
  • Assist with federal grant reporting, tracking, and cost management
  • Ensure accuracy of interagency and interfund transactions
  • Prepare financial reports, projections, and variance analyses
  • Support proper handling of accounts payable, receivable, and accruals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
  • Document financial workflows and processes to support operational efficiency
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and payroll data

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or government finance
  • Strong experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of federal grants and governmental accounting practices preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (Workday strongly preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities
