Medical Director (Virtual) – Primary Care / HIV / LGBTQIA+ Health
Location: Texas (Remote with travel to Dallas every other week)
Job Type: Full-Time

Overview
We are seeking a Virtual Medical Director to lead clinical operations and telehealth services for a growing, mission-driven healthcare program. This role is primarily remote, with a strong focus on managing virtual care delivery across the organization, while maintaining an on-site presence at our Dallas clinic every other week.

The Medical Director will provide clinical leadership, oversee quality initiatives, and support a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, with an emphasis on HIV prevention and treatment, gender-affirming care, and services for LGBTQIA+ communities.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership and Virtual Care Oversight
  • Lead and manage the virtual care platform, ensuring high-quality, accessible telehealth services
  • Provide clinical oversight for physicians, APPs, and nursing staff across virtual and in-person settings
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards
  • Partner with operations leadership to improve workflows, access, and patient outcomes
Patient Care
  • Provide direct patient care, including a mix of virtual and in-person as needed
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, including HIV care and prevention
  • Review labs, imaging, and treatment plans while ensuring timely documentation and follow-up
Supervision and Provider Development
  • Supervise and mentor Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Conduct chart reviews, clinical audits, and regular one-on-one meetings
  • Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts
Quality and Performance Improvement
  • Lead Quality Improvement initiatives and participate in organizational quality committees
  • Monitor clinical performance metrics such as patient outcomes, documentation timeliness, and patient satisfaction
  • Identify and address gaps in care and health equity
Collaboration and Strategy
  • Partner with the Chief Medical Officer and clinical leadership on program development and strategy
  • Support policy development, clinical protocols, and training initiatives
  • Engage in community outreach as needed
Schedule and Structure
  • Primary role is virtual, overseeing telehealth operations
  • Travel to Dallas clinic required every other week
  • Blend of administrative leadership and patient care responsibilities

Qualifications

Required:
  • MD or DO with active Texas medical license or ability to obtain
  • Board certified in Primary Care or related specialty
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience
  • Experience supervising Advanced Practice Providers
  • Active DEA license
Preferred:
  • Experience in HIV care, PrEP, STI treatment, or gender-affirming care
  • Background in telehealth or virtual care leadership
  • Experience working with underserved or diverse populations
