About the Role:

As a Summer Camp Teacher or Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children during the summer months. Your primary goal is to facilitate a variety of activities that promote learning, creativity, and social development among campers. You will work closely with a team to plan and implement daily schedules that balance fun and educational content, ensuring each child’s experience is positive and enriching. This role requires adaptability, patience, and strong communication skills to effectively support children of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ultimately, your contribution will help foster a memorable and impactful summer camp experience that encourages personal growth and lifelong friendships.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to camp start.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check and comply with all camp safety policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching, childcare, or youth mentoring roles.
  • Skills in specific activity areas such as sports coaching, arts and crafts, or outdoor education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and leading daily camp activities including arts and crafts, sports, educational games, and outdoor adventures.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all campers throughout the day, including during transitions and meal times.
  • Support campers in developing social skills, teamwork, and self-confidence through guided interactions and group activities.
  • Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff to provide updates and address any concerns promptly.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming camp environment, including setup and cleanup of activity areas.

Skills:

The required skills such as communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for engaging effectively with children, parents, and team members, ensuring clear and positive interactions throughout the camp day. First aid and safety knowledge are critical for maintaining a secure environment and responding promptly to any health-related incidents. Preferred skills like experience in teaching or specific activity expertise enhance the quality and variety of programs offered, allowing for more tailored and impactful camper experiences. Teamwork skills enable smooth collaboration with other staff to coordinate activities and manage group dynamics efficiently.

A minimum of 9 weeks availability is required for these positions.
