Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Security Systems Sales Engineer to join our team. This role blends consultative sales with system design expertise, focusing on converting qualified inbound leads into awarded projects. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor—evaluating client needs, engineering compliant and effective security solutions, and managing opportunities from first conversation through close.
This position supports a full range of low-voltage systems including access control, electronic locking hardware, video surveillance (CCTV/IP), burglar/intrusion alarms, fire alarm systems, intercoms, and related technologies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Engagement & Solution Development
- Respond to inbound inquiries and company generated leads for security system installations
- Meet with clients to evaluate facilities, identify risks, and understand operational requirements
- Perform on-site surveys and develop tailored system recommendations
- Walk clients through proposed solutions and system capabilities
- Drive opportunities forward from consultation to signed agreement
2. System Design & Technical Planning
- Engineer integrated low-voltage security systems, including:
- Access control systems
- Video surveillance (CCTV/IP cameras)
- Intrusion and burglar alarm systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Intercom and communication systems
- Mechanical and electronic locking hardware
- Define system architecture, layouts, and device placements
- Generate bill of materials (BOM), system schematics, and supporting documentation
- Ensure all designs align with manufacturer guidelines, applicable codes (NFPA), and company standards
3. Costing, Proposals & Scope Development
- Build detailed project estimates and professional proposals
- Clearly outline system scope, specifications, and installation requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams to validate pricing and execution strategy
- Present proposals and address both technical and budget-related questions
- Adjust designs and pricing as needed based on client feedback
4. Pipeline & Sales Execution
- Own and manage sales opportunities from initial contact through project award
- Maintain consistent communication and follow-ups with prospective clients
- Track progress and updates within CRM systems
- Coordinate with operations, project management, and installation teams to align expectations
5. Project Transition & Field Support
- Deliver complete project documentation upon sale for a smooth handoff
- Participate in kickoff meetings to review system design and scope
- Provide technical insight or clarification during installation when required
6. Technical Knowledge & Industry Awareness
- Stay current on evolving security technologies, platforms, and integrations
- Maintain familiarity with industry standards, compliance requirements, and best practices
Qualifications
Core Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of experience in electronic security systems, estimating, or technical sales
- Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV/IP video, intrusion/burglar alarms, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems in Division 28
- Ability to interpret blueprints and develop system designs and proposals
- Proven success in a consultative, inbound-driven sales environment
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in electrical systems, IT networking, or systems integration
- Experience supporting commercial or enterprise-level clients
- Basic understanding of IP networking and integrations
