Lab Technician

Overview

CTG’s long-standing Fortune 500 client is seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support high-temperature laboratory operations within a fast-paced research and development environment. This role supports thermal testing, materials processing, and experimental lab operations while partnering closely with scientists and engineers.

Location: Corning, NY
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Corning, NY
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Geology, Ceramics, or a related technical field

Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor high-temperature furnaces and thermal treatment equipment
• Prepare laboratory samples, fixtures, and test materials according to experimental procedures
• Execute test runs and maintain accurate documentation of run conditions and lab activities
• Support equipment setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and stabilization activities
• Follow all safety, PPE, and operational procedures while working with high-temperature systems and molten glass materials
• Coordinate with technical teams to support changing schedules and research priorities

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or process-equipment environment preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures precisely
• Comfortable working independently in a hands-on technical environment
• Ability to work safely around high-temperature equipment

Preferred Experience
• High-temperature furnaces, heat treatment, ceramics, or glass processing
• Laboratory tracking systems or LIMS experience
• Supporting research and development labs with rapidly changing priorities
