Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity facilitating communication for Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in an engaging educational setting near Olathe, KS. This full-time role spans the academic year from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027, serving 37.5 hours per week. You will play a vital part in supporting two D/HH students at JFK Elementary, ensuring consistent access and understanding in both classroom dialogue and school activities.
Key Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in Kansas
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
- Ability to accurately interpret in a variety of educational settings while maintaining professionalism
- Strong understanding of confidentiality protocols and adherence to ethical standards
- Experience supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals, preferably in a school environment
- Resume ready for immediate presentation upon request
Core Responsibilities:
- Translate spoken English into ASL and vice versa to support D/HH students during instructional lessons, activities, and meetings
