Substance Abuse Counselor

The Substance Abuse Counselor will primarily serve adult clients dealing with substance use challenges, providing therapeutic support and relapse prevention strategies. Working within a multidisciplinary team alongside social workers, the counselor manages a caseload typically ranging from small to medium size (under 15 up to 30 clients), facilitating group therapy sessions and closely monitoring client progress to foster sustainable recovery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy sessions for adults
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation
• Develop and implement relapse prevention strategies

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), CDCA, LCDC II, or LSW credentials
• Experience in substance abuse counseling
• Skilled in case management
• Proficient in documentation and reporting
