American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at an acute care hospital in California, requiring at least 2 years of GI experience, moderate sedation competency, and a CA RN license.
Details- Acute care hospital setting in a dedicated Endoscopy/GI lab
- Common procedures include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, MRCP, and biopsies, with an average of 3–5 cases per day plus emergency cases
- Day and evening shifts, 8 hours per shift, Monday through Friday; start time is determined by first case with 1-hour early arrival required
- One evening on-call shift required per week (end of regular shift through 0700)
- One weekend on-call shift required per month (48-hour call coverage)
- Holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis
- Floating required to PACU/ACU
- EMR system: Cerner (Surginet module)
- 13-week contract
- Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Crisis Prevention (all must be active; pending certifications not accepted)
- COVID vaccination required
- Minimum 2 years of GI/Endoscopy nursing experience required
- Moderate sedation experience required (for cases where anesthesia is not available)
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Department-provided scrubs are supplied — no need to bring your own
- 2–3 day department-specific orientation provided
- Charge nurse role is present on the unit; hospitalist/intensivist, RT, and pharmacy are all available in-house 24/7
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
