Job Description
The City of Presque Isle is seeking a Mechanic to work under the general direction of the Public Works Director and/or the Public Works Foreman, performing skilled work of the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel-driven automotive and construction equipment.
Previous experience as a heavy equipment mechanic and computer-based diagnostics preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and oversees the scheduled maintenance of all Public Works equipment and vehicles.
- Performs skilled mechanic work of a difficult and complex nature in the general overhaul and maintenance of equipment, such as, but not limited to: light and heavy-duty trucks, snowplows, gasoline and diesel engines, tractors, graders and other automotive and mechanical equipment.
- Repair equipment by welding and using cutting torch.
- Must have State of Maine Inspection License or able to obtain within six months.
- Must have a CDL license and fill in as Truck Driver or Equipment Operator.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as necessary.
The position offers a comprehensive wage and benefit package including:
- Starting wage $27.83 - $34.05 based on experience
