Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to support a busy legal team in Minneapolis. This Contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and can manage document preparation, court filings, and deadline-driven administrative work with accuracy. The role requires strong coordination skills, sound judgment, and the ability to keep case materials and schedules organized across multiple matters.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare, revise, and finalize litigation documents and legal correspondence for attorney review, including filings required by courts and agencies.
• Maintain well-organized case records by tracking pleadings, discovery materials, and related documentation in both digital and paper files.
• Submit documents through electronic filing systems and confirm that filings meet court-specific formatting and submission requirements.
• Coordinate with attorneys and paralegals to share case updates, gather information, and support progress across active matters.
• Manage legal calendars by monitoring hearings, filing dates, and statutory deadlines to help ensure timely action.
• Close out completed matters by updating document management records and arranging proper retention or disposal of physical files.
• Handle administrative support related to continuing legal education, including registrations, credit tracking, and reporting to the appropriate state board.
• Arrange business travel and event logistics such as transportation, lodging, conference enrollment, and reimbursement documentation.
• Provide cross-coverage for administrative and legal support staff as needed, contributing to a collaborative office environment.
• 1+ years of experience supporting civil litigation matters in a legal assistant or comparable legal support role.
• Proficiency with electronic filing platforms and familiarity with court filing procedures.
• Strong calendar management skills with the ability to monitor multiple deadlines accurately.
• Experience organizing large volumes of legal documents, including pleadings and discovery materials.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for working effectively with attorneys, paralegals, courts, and external contacts.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.
• Comfortable using document management systems and standard office software in a legal setting.
