Job Summary
SWIRCA & More is seeking a dependable Part-Time Van Driver to support our mission of helping older adults and individuals with disabilities live healthier, more independent lives. This role is responsible for delivering hot, nutritious meals to home-delivered meal participants and neighborhood lunch sites throughout Spencer and Perry counties. The Van Driver will follow an assigned route, ensure meals are stored and transported safely, communicate with sites and clients as needed, report any issues promptly, maintain the assigned vehicle, and assist with light kitchen duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the kitchen serving line in the morning, as needed.
- Load meals safely and accurately, confirming the correct quantity for the assigned route each day.
- Transport and deliver meals safely along a pre-established route while maintaining proper food temperatures throughout delivery.
- Route Management: Follow established schedules and traffic laws to ensure timely delivery to all sites and clients.
- Maintain the assigned vehicle by keeping it clean, monitoring fuel levels, and reporting maintenance needs or other issues to the Kitchen Manager.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, as required.
- Clean and sanitize coolers to ensure food safety standards are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods and safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy coolers and carts, typically weighing 25–50 lbs.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and strong time management skills.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, driver’s license check, and background check.
Benefits
- Part-time position.
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 12:15 PM, Monday through Friday.
- No nights, weekends, or holidays.
