Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots and repairs high-speed production equipment in a food production environment, ensuring reliable operation of mechanical and electrical systems. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, conducts quality inspections, and responds quickly to equipment and machinery breakdowns to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair high-speed production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation.
- Check and calibrate instruments to verify accuracy and proper functioning.
- Fit and install new parts and components on machinery as needed.
- Carry out routine and detailed quality inspections on equipment and systems.
- Respond immediately to equipment and machinery breakdowns to reduce production interruptions.
- Identify faults and either repair them directly or arrange for replacements to be installed.
- Perform scheduled checks on machinery and parts as part of a preventive maintenance program.
- Oil, clean, and service machinery and parts to maintain optimal performance and extend equipment life.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and schematics to diagnose and correct mechanical and electrical issues.
- Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve control system problems.
- Work collaboratively with a team of maintenance professionals to support a 24-hour production operation.
- Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or electrical technician roles.
- Hands-on experience working with 3-phase, 480V electrical systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining conveyors and high-speed production equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with gearboxes, motors, and hydraulics.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
- Capability to respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and perform effective root-cause troubleshooting.
- Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical components in a production setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a maintenance mechanic, maintenance engineer, or industrial mechanic.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing equipment issues.
- Ability to collaborate within a maintenance team and communicate clearly with production staff.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including days and nights, and to be on call as needed.
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, to support a 24-hour operation.

Work Environment
The role is part of a maintenance team of approximately 24 people in a 24-hour food production facility. Shifts run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
